LyX in the portable MikTeX distribution
A majority of people using Windows are not familiar with LaTeX syntax, or even using the Terminal, so asking them to use non WYSIWIG environment is out of question. And asking users to tweak directories every time when they change machine (because the USB stick can be assigned to different drive ...

the concprog class can't print composer and work descriptio
I have tried the concprog class, but found out that all it does is to print the timetable of a concert.
However my concert programme also need to print descriptions of the works, composer and soloist, and output into a nicely-formatted booklet.

Portable LyX that runs with portable MikTeX?
I have a friend who needs to write her thesis. She is not good at computer, therefore asking her to learn LaTeX is out of question. She does not have reliable access to internet and she often works on public computers installed with Windows, which she does *not* have admin access.

Where can I download the MikTeX DVD?
I have a friend who is not too good at computer and she uses a Windows laptop. She does not have reliable internet access and she often works on computers where she does not have admin access, so I reckon a MikTeX DVD is best for her, which has all the packages in one place and can be directly run ...

Re: \usepackage[utf8x]{inputenc} does't work on CJK or cyril
I have an Ubuntu desktop and a MacBook. On the Ubuntu desktop, after I install the droid font, it works now. I tried both UnDotum or UnBatang and nonw works. Then I tried fonts like Arial and Time and no luck either.

Re: Master thesis
But please check with your university first. Most institutions do specify a template for you to use. Also for journal / conference paper, the journal / conference will specify the template.
You must follow the instructions.

Re: classes / packages / templates for concert programme not
I had a look at the concprog package. It does a very good job in printing the timetable of the concert. However in the concert programme, if I want to have paragraphs to describe each work (and perhaps each movement) and each composer, soloist, orchestra etc and typeset the whole thing in a booklet ...
