Re: 2 alpha: bad performance of tex file editor
Unfortunately, there's nothing we can do about it. TeXnicCenter relies upon the Scintilla editing component which may cause slowdowns when editing large documents.

Re: Whole line selection
As a workaround you can enable the line numbers and use their margin for selection.

Re: x on every document tab
An x on every tab would require too much additional horizontal space. However, you can press the middle mouse button over any tab to close it.

This is a bug in alpha 3 which has been already fixed. To make inverse search work again remove the apostrophe behind the last square bracket, i.e. use
-inverse-search "\"C:\Programme\TeXnicCenter Alpha\teXniCcenter.EXE\" /ddecmd \"[goto('%f','%l')]\""
as Sumatra PDF command-line arguments ...
-inverse-search "\"C:\Programme\TeXnicCenter Alpha\teXniCcenter.EXE\" /ddecmd \"[goto('%f','%l')]\""
as Sumatra PDF command-line arguments ...

Re: User settings stored in which files?
All the settings are stored in the registry. TeXnicCenter 2.0, for instance, uses the HKCU\Software\ToolsCenter\TeXniCenterNT registry key.

Re: TeXnicCenter 2 alpha 3 (build 1118) - Colours
A simple inclusion of the microtype package may fix many of the over/underfull boxes, particularly if you use pdflatex.
