Type 1 fonts in Tex-live under Ubuntu 10.10
I have installed TexLive under Ubuntu, and discovered that it cannot find some Type1 fonts. When I try to use the Latin Modern (sans serif) in compiling a Lyx document into pdf (using pdflatex through Lyx) I get an error message that lmss10.pfb cannot be found. I can add the file manually to the ...

Re: Embedding/viewing SVG graphics in Lyx
I'd be glad to provide an example of a Lyx file with some SVG graphics, but how do I do it here?

Embedding/viewing SVG graphics in Lyx
I can insert SVG graphics into a Lyx document, and it comes out fine in the pdf output. However, it is NOT shown in the Lyx file-- instead I see a black rectangle. What is wrong?
Ubuntu 10.10 (64 bit); Lyx 1.6.8. Inkscape is installed.
Thanks

Table placement in Beamer and pdf output
Since I am not sure how to post Latex files, I shall paste it here. As you can see, the Latex was exported from Lyx, and the table is not floating (no sense in floating graphics in a Beamer presentation).
Thanks for your help

Table placement in Beamer and pdf output
Two questions:
1) I created a table in Beamer, but I cannot center it. It ignores \centering , \begin{center}..\end{center} and even hspace{-.2in} does not work. It seems that Beamer uses a rather coarse grid, since positioning the table horizontally using hspace does not work and then overshoots ...

Re: LaTeX on Ubuntu
Thanks-- your advice coincides with my plan-- to wait until the 2010 version comes out (although there is no guarantee that the repository version will include tlmgr..)

Re: LaTeX on Ubuntu
Here is what I got when I typed sudo tlmgr
tlmgr: command not found
I did install TL from Synaptic-- the cli installation seemed too involved.
Do I need to install the ENTIRE TL huge collection of packages to get tlmgr?

install tlmgr on ubuntu
I have installed TexLive 2009 on Ubuntu 10.04 (64 bit), and would love to use its package manager (tlmgr). How do I install it? There seems to be no information about it.
Thanks--

Re: Beamer - change theme and background
I don't know if it is possible to change a theme in mid-flight (Beamer is rather inflexible about smaller things..), but since the output file is pdf, you can use two themes, and merge the two pdf files using any number of pdf-handling programs, such as Adobe Acrobat or pdfhelper.

Re: Uninstalling texlive, Windows XP
It did not work at all-- I tried some tex files that used to work just fine, but TexLive could not compile them (various error messages).
I am using Ubuntu most of the time (10.04), but for various reasons I simply have to have one Windows machine, and I need to have Latex running on it.
