continue typing after inline math shortcut

Post by mikehudsonuk »

Hi
I'm using windows and have a lot of inline math symbols, some of which aren't gree=k, they are just normal characters which may also have super/subscript. I currently use the shortcut alt+h+i to start inserting an inline formula, but I have to click in the box that is created in order to continue typing. Is there a way to get into editing an inline math formula without having to click in that box? If they were all greek I'd be fine, as alt+m+g (+ say s for sigma) will let me put a greek character in and carry on typing.
Thanks for any help!

well to answer my own question, I ended up on the shortcuts page after mis-typing something. Lo and behold, ctrl+M puts me directly into math mode and I can carry on typing straight away. Hooray!

Hi Mike,

welcome to the forum!

Thanks for posting the answer that you found. It may help the next one coming here via google. Maybe I can answer the next LyX question. Mostly based on LaTeX experience though. ;-)
