Post by _samir »

Hello everyone my name is Samir and i'm new here.

So i just started to write my CV and saw some good templates on the internet that were made using latex.

I searched on forum for classes and their "functions" but couldn't find anything.

example moderncv:

Where can i see what are all the available " functions" like

Code: Select all

\cventry
\firstname
\familyname

and what are their arguments
like

Code: Select all

\cventry{years}{degree/job title}{institution/employer}{localization}{grade}{description}
i can't find these things ):

thx for any help

Hi _samir,

Welcome to the LaTeX community!

The »New Members« forum is not really meant to ask questions so you might want to choose a different forum for this. For the question at hand the LaTeX General Forum seems like a suitable place.

I'll try to answer your question anyway.
  • All packages shipped with the »big two« distributions, TeX Live and MiKTeX, can be found on CTAN. If a package has a documentation/manual you can find it there. moderncv for example: http://www.ctan.org/pkg/moderncv.
  • If you have one of the two distributions the documentation of many packages is probably installed on your system. Try the following from the command line:

    Code: Select all

    texdoc moderncv
    .
  • The documentation to every package in TeX Live can also be found on http://texdoc.net/
    For example moderncv again: http://texdoc.net/pkg/moderncv

Hi Samir,

there's an easy explation: LaTeX is popular in Germany and German LaTeX users are very active online. To ensure that LaTeX users from all over the world are able to benefit from support and solutions here, we always write in English. For discussing in German, perhaps have a look at: Deutsches LaTeX Forum.
