PDF preview slowing down big time

Post by insipidtoast »

As I've been adding to my lyx document for my book, I notice that the time it takes for the PDF preview to load has slowed greatly.

Is the slowing due to the fact that the file size keeps getting larger?

Should I typeset the book in separate sections, and then add them together using the insert-file-child document feature?
FYI:
I'm using windows with LyX 2.0 and MiKTeX 2.9
I'm designing a book using the Koma-script class

Recommended reading 2024:

LaTeXguide.org • LaTeX-Cookbook.net • TikZ.org

NEW: TikZ book now 40% off at Amazon.com for a short time.

And: Currently, Packt sells ebooks for $4.99 each if you buy 5 of their over 1000 ebooks. If you choose only a single one, $9.99. How about combining 3 LaTeX books with Python, gnuplot, mathplotlib, Matlab, ChatGPT or other AI books? Epub and PDF. Bundle (3 books, add more for higher discount): https://packt.link/MDH5p

This seems more of a LaTeX & PDF viewer question than a LyX question. First, figure out whether it's the LaTeX compiling that's taking a lot longer (most likely) or whether it's your PDF reader that is taking a longer time. If it's the PDF reader, then maybe use a quicker one. If it's the LaTeX compiling, then maybe the LaTeX gurus around here will have some tips for you.
