As I write \tableofcontents in body of document
It gives one error
something is wrong perhaps a missing \item
what is problem?
how to resolve it?

Please read the forum rules about providing a minimum working example. This could be a number of things, usually relating to a rogue linebreak, missing field, or missing }. We need to have an example that duplicates it before we can help you. Many times, you will find the problem yourself while making this example (which is another reason examples are highly recommended).
