Installing MikTeX on a machine without net connection
I have a machine running linux which has an internet connection. I have another machine at a different location running Windows XP without net connection. Searching through the MikTeX site and this forum did not give me any indication of how I can download and install MikTeX on to the Windows machine via my linux machine. Is it even doable? If so, can someone point me to the relevant docs?

Re: Installing MikTeX on a machine without net connection
So, can I presume that there is no way to get MikTeX on to a machine without net connection?

Right on the page you have mentioned, it states that a net connection is required.frabjous wrote:I don't see why you couldn't download the "Basic MiKTeX 2.7" executable from here and transfer it over and install it. It just wouldn't be a full installation, so you'd have to manually install additional pacakges.
Moreover, I do not find a link/page from where I can download individual packages to install. To install a basic MiKTeX system, download and run the "Basic MiKTeX" installer. MiKTeX has the ability to install missing packages automatically, i.e., this installer is suitable for computers connected to the Internet.

Re: Installing MikTeX on a machine without net connection
http://www.ctan.org/tex-archive/systems/win32/miktex/
and then use the basic installer, pointing it at the local directory containing all of the packages.

Have started downloading the packages and will post back the results.
