Best Practice for Graphs
Hm, it's not LaTeX specific, but I would recommend GeoGebra. It's a Java based program originally for geometry, but it can handle simple graphs as well and you have full control about the axes and can label everything. Export to PNG or JPG.

Re: LaTeX Equation Editor
Works for me ... did you set the paths to the exe-files correctly?
In my system it's
C:\Program Files (x86)\MiKTeX 2.9\miktex\bin\texify.exe
and
C:\Program Files (x86)\MiKTeX 2.9\miktex\bin\dvipng.exe
But it's only a preview tool.

Cannot install MiKTeX 2.8
Which MiKTeX Package did you download and where?
That lines about "*.cpp" look very strange to me ...
If find those lines also in my log from a successful installation:
problem: C:\Program Files\MiKTeX 2.8\miktex\bin\MiKTeX208-core-PS.dll does not exist

TeXnicCenter 2.0 Alpha 2 (Build 1071) Issues
Thanks a lot for the new alpha version!
When installing Alpha 2 over Alpha 1, I get several times the message, that files which I want to overwrite are newer than the ones in the installation package.
Happy new year to all of you!

running latex from a USB stick
To be a bit more precise:
I altered the batch like this:
path driveletter-of-the-stick:\path to MiKTeX root directory\miktex\bin;%path%
start "" "%~d0\path to\texmaker.exe" %*
The %~d0 works for starting the tool, but not for changing the path (at least for me), so I put the drive letter hard ...

Re: running latex from a USB stick
Ok, the batch works for me, the files are compiled (I hard coded the drive letter of the USB into the batch file instead of using the %~d0) but sumatra pdf works only once after setting the TexmakerX options and then only opens, but shows no pdf. The filename is shown above the window, but sumatra ...

Well ... does anyone know something about a portable version? Would be great for MikTex Portable.
