LyX ⇒ \mathbb font for user interface

Hi everyone

I'm new to the forums and this is my first post, so I apologize if this has been covered elsewhere, or is in the wrong section.

I've installed the package "bbold" for latex, so that I can produce blackboard bold numbers. Using the command

\mathbb{1}

for example produces a fancy looking blackboard bold 1 in my pdf document, like this:

The only trouble that I have is that in lyx (in the GUI only), the font in math-mode renders the bbold 1 as this:

Is there any way I can get around this problem? The pdf file that it creates has a normal looking blackboard bold 1, so it's not too much of an issue, it's just that it looks ugly when typing my stuff up.

LyX's Math manual (Help > Math), Section 11, a note says: "The styles \mathbb and \mathcal can only be used for big letters."
