Text Formatting ⇒ automatic lettrine

Hello,
this is my first post here, i was wondering if someone can help me.
i need to use lettrine package to automatically drop cap the first letter of a chapter environment.

i already have the lettrine package working but i wanted to extrcat the first letter and apply the command on it automatically.

I have also been very much interested in making lettrine automatic, for the past two months, so if anyone skillful enough knows the answer, it would be appreciated.
