Hello community (here's my first post),
I hope someone here can assist me with a minor question. I've noticed that the first entry of my table of contents is "Contents". Although it's not a major issue for me, I'd rather like it, if my ToC did not display this entry. Is there any way to remove this line?
I'm compiling my document as in the memoir-class.
Thank you in advance. Best regards,
Thomas

"Contents line" in ToC. Memoir
The memoir manual (Chapter 9 - Contents lists, p. 149) mentions that the starred version of the command for the ToC doesn't produce this entry.
So reading the manual is the best source for information (not only) about a class specific behaviour.
The blindtext package is only for creating dummy text thus not part of the solution.
Best regards and welcome to the board

Code: Select all
\documentclass[11pt,a4paper,english]{memoir}
\usepackage[T1]{fontenc}
\usepackage[utf8]{inputenc}
\usepackage{babel}
\usepackage[math]{blindtext}
\begin{document}
\tableofcontents*
\Blinddocument
\end{document}

Re: "Contents line" in ToC. Memoir
Thank you for you kind reply Thorsten.
I've applied your suggestion, and it works superbly. I understand that reading the manual is often the best source of information - but although I've studied it, I often find it somewhat difficult to find just what I'm looking for. As you indicate - it is a very extensive manual.
Again, thank you. Very much appreciated.
