natbib cite not generating "et al."

Post by p.theiner »

Hi all,

I'm using the natbib package to format my in-text citations. I have a simple problem that I can't quite figure out: when I use the standard natbib command "\citep{Example2006}", it should generate an abbreviated citation such as "Abner et al. (2006)" for more than three authors, right?
When I LaTeX my doc, however, my PDF always contains the full list of authors, like "Aber, Brown, Chang, and Door (2006)", which I would only expect in the case of "\citep*{Example2006}". Any suggestions?

Post a minimal working example, otherwise we are guessing.
