Graphics, Figures & Tables ⇒ Table within text with table notes. Impossiible?

Hi all,
Does any one know how to make a table created using the \ctable package appear within the text of the document? For example in the middle of a page between two paragraphs instead of at the top of the page.

If this is not possible, is there another package that can 1) allow table foot notes to appear at the bottom of the table and 2) allow the table to appear somewhere other than at the beginning or end of the page?

Any help greatly appreciated.

The ctable manual contains an extra section with examples. Furthermore it describes all package options for possible adjustments in detail. So, what do you think can any member from here explain better than the manual does?
