Hi,
I'm Pat from France.
I'm a student in chemical engineering and a bit a newone to LaTeX (trying to type my informatic project report on LaTex to learn the basics). So for the moment I'm looking a bit for general guides etc. Already installed Miktex & TeXnic...
Other interests : music (e-guitar & piano) and sports (rugby!), also a hiker.

Greetings from France
Hi Pat,
Welcome to the board, there is lots of information here and many questions answered - always search the forum when you have questions. Look through the LaTeX Resources for Beginners post, it gives you a good list of things to read to help you learn LaTeX. The two resources I uses most when learning LaTeX (and still use when I forget things) are "The (Not So) Short Introduction to Latex2e" and the "LaTeX Wikibook". Also, if you ever have a problem in LaTeX with a particular command search google for "Latex" and the command name, you will usually find something somewhere that explains it. Finally, if you are looking for some help with a particular package, go to http://www.ctan.org/pkg/«package name» and read the package documentation, that will usually give you some good help if you read it carefully.
All the best,
Moose!

Greetings from France
To begin with small projects is the right step before approaching larger ones. magicmoose already mentioned a useful thread with a list of the basics.
Best regards and welcome to the board
