controlling the build files

Post by frenchcr »

i have my .tex file in a folder and i use teXnicCenter to build (using mixtex) my .tex file from that folder and then output a pdf. But each time i change my latex file in teXnicCenter i have to go into that folder and delete all the old files from the last build so that it doesnt botch the next build (i.e when i build ontop of the old files its like im doing something wrong as the output is not the same as when i build the .tex file in an empty folder)

Can someone tell me whats happening here and a way forward as its getting tiring deleting the build files each time as im just learning and i like to build everytime i change a line so i can see what im doing.

controlling the build files

Can you post pdf attachments comparing them?

There are supposed to be differences, but they're generally supposed to be improvements (like Chapter/Table/Figure numbers, citations, table of contents appearing).

Also, try compiling not only one time (without deleting) but several, and see if that makes a difference (it sometimes takes several times to get the labels right).
