Graphics, Figures & Tables ⇒ wrapping longtable

Hi,

I have to generate several longtables (6+ pages). What I want to do is split the page and have the table wrap to the adjacent half with a small gap (1 cm) and then continue on the next page reducing it to 3 pages per table. Essentially making the document a double column for each table.
