Error Message: "The file xyz.tex has been modified..."

Post by aal »

Hi there,

I hope this is not a dumb question or one that has already been answered, but so far I couldn't find anything about it.
All right, here is my problem. Whenever I compile a .tex-file using Texniccenter and I view the output, once I get back to Texniccenter to continue to work on the .tex-file I get the error message:
The file xyz.tex has been modified outside TeXnicCenter. Should TeXnicCenter reload the document.
It's really annoying. I think I had the same problem two or three years ago. Now after reinstalling my whole system it is back and I just can't remember how I solved it last time.
Can anybody help me. That'd be great.

Such a warning (not error message) can appear if the concerned file is opened in a second tab. Perhaps you didn't notice that. So, check the tab bar for duplicate filenames.

Best regards and welcome to the board

Thanks for the first attempt to help me, but that is definitely not the problem. I checked that before.
By the way I use TeXnicCenter 1.0 and MiKTex 2.7. Everything runs on a Windoxs XP machine. Just in case it's a problem that has to do with incompatibility or anything like that.
