Importing a long text from Writer

Post by erdalronahi »

I am trying to import a long text (300 pages) (plain text without pictures of maths) from Writer into Lyx. I want to keep a minimum of formatting (italics) and the footnotes. The best solution I found is to
  • export html from writer
  • convert the resulting to latex with gnuhtml2latex
  • Import the result into Lyx
Unfortunately this workflow breaks all the footnotes. Is there a better way to do the job?

I don't like this type of conversions at all, but writer2latex do the job to some extent: text retains its characteristics, bold, italic, footnotes... There are some options about how clean output will be. Worth checking out ;)

I tried this, too, but it's dialogues appear in French and I don't know how to change the language. But it does the conversion quite well, indeed.

Yes, I tried that. The homepage says it's translated into several languages, but I don't know where to choose the language. My System is not in English, so maybe there is an automatic selection that gets it wrong.
