XeTeX ⇒ XeLaTeX failure

I have recently installed Tex Live on a new desktop, and migrated old Tex data (packages,etc.) from my laptop. I just discovered that, however, my .tex files do not produce any output on the new machine as I get the following error message (while running XeLaTeX):

** ERROR ** sfnt: Freetype failure...

Output file removed.

Error 256 (driver return code) generating output;
file xxx.pdf may not be valid.
Transcript written on xxx.log.

xxx stands for the file name. I have no idea about how to solve this problem. Any help is very much appreciated.
