Installing Truetype fonts
Having experimented with Lyx for a while, I am interseted in using it to produce books as it seems a lot faster than OpenOffice. However as I am publishing Buddhist books using Pali terms I need special accents. I have made my own Truetype font to provide these which is a modified vesion of Bitstream Charter. I have installed my font on my Slackware 10.2 system and it is recognised by Abiword, but how do I get Lyx to use it as my default font? I am using Lyx 1.4.2.

Re: Installing Truetype fonts
Ok solved the problem by using the Latex markup to get the accents in a latex document then importing into Lyx. Thus I can discard my font.
Re: Installing Truetype fonts
Hey,
I'm pretty new at using Lyx and I've been trying to use the Day Roman font for the pdf output. I did try to install the file I got from CTAN, but there's no way I can get it to work.
Can anyone give me a hand?

Installing Truetype fonts
I never managed to install a not-LaTeX font for LaTeX successfully, but with XeTeX I can very easily make use of any system font in LaTeX/LyX. For using XeTeX in LyX, you will need to configure it a little bit (which for me was easy and successful, following the instructions from the LyX wiki). Beware that XeTeX can only display the signs and letters that are included in the font used (as with LaTeX fonts as well) and does not copy the bad habit of Word and other word processors of putting in a desired letter from another font if it is not included in the actual font.

alright. I'll try that. hopefully the dapper .deb package available will work with the gutsy I have installed here...

well, look at that! it half-worked!
Strangely the font I want to use doesn't show up in the chapter titles and divisions. Maybe something with the size?
