Merging the forums

Post by curiouslearn »

Perhaps, I am the only one who feels this way, but I really liked the previous arrangement where different forums in the Latex category were together. It was more convenient to browse the new topics posted. You could just go to one forum and all the topics were there. With the new arrangement, one has to individually go to each forum. Would it be possible to have them all together also?

Merging the forums

Hi curiouslearn,

Have you seen the links in the main menu on the right hand side? There's one to view new posts. Is that not what you want?

Cheers,

No actually that was not what I am looking for. I thought it was what I was looking for but when I go there now, I see only 5 new posts. I do not see anymore. Is there a way to see say latest 20 posts or so. Can we not see all of them as we could earlier?
Thanks.

Merging the forums

I personally feel the new structure much better, it is better organized. For new posts, I use the "View new posts" link, definitely the best for the job. For older, but newly answered topics, you can check the "View active posts" link, it shows active threads from all the forums. In order to show all the topics of the main subforums, just click there, don't go down further into subforums. For example, you can see all the threads in "LaTeX" (which is what I understand you want) in here.

Thanks Keta. I suppose active topics is what I was looking for. I thought "active" meant that once someone answered and it was marked with the green "correct" icon, it would not show up in the active topics. But it seems that is not the case.

I think what Keta said is a quite good information, if you feel that the structure is to detailed: In the Board index do not click onto the subforum links, but onto the main forum link (e.g. "LaTeX" or "LaTeX Editors") and you will see all messages of this forum and its subforum.
