LaTeX for MS-DOS?

Post by MeneerJansen »

You can buy these lovely little "trip down memory lane" 386 laptops on Aliexpress nowadays that run on MS-DOS. When I started using LaTeX it was in DOS too (in the early 90's).

Out of nostalgia I wanted to make a LaTeX doc in DOS again in DOSBox. The only classic LaTeX distro I could find was emTeX (link) but it won't install. Bummer!

The error message is:

Code: Select all

ERROR: Installation failed for emtex\remove\first.rem
(C:\emtex\remove\first.rem).
But that (test) file does exist and it is readable.

Does anybody have a suggestion for me?
