Problems Installing Legacy TeX Live 2022

Postby Paul R » Thu Aug 11, 2022 6:41 pm

I use Mac OS 10.13 (High Sierra), and I went here to install the x86_64-darwinlegacy version. I am not a programmer and very unfamiliar with Terminal, so any advice would be much appreciated.

The instructions told me to move the installation folder to my "home directory." I have no idea what the home directory is, so I left the installation folder in the Downloads folder and proceeded.

The installation failed to install a large file (3.4 MB) as follows:

The following (inessential) packages failed to install properly:

You can fix this by running this command:
tlmgr update --all --reinstall-forcibly-removed
to complete the installation.

So I tried that immediately, but I got an error message:

MacBook-Pro% tlmgr update --all --reinstall-forcibly-removed
zsh: command not found: tlmgr

Then I went here and installed the latest version of TeXShop. I created a test file and tried to save it, but I got an error message:

/Library/TeX/texbin/pdflatex does not exist.

I am now frustrated and lost.
