What's the best way to get around arXiv requiring papers that were written in Latex to be submitted as Latex sources?
Somehow all the academics seem to have agreed that everyone has to put all their papers on arXiv. And if we have to submit sources if we use Latex, but we don't have to if we use a different editor, that would be a reason to avoid Latex and to instead write papers with Word or Libre Office.
I'd prefer to use Latex, but I also don't want to be discriminated against for using Latex. To prevent discrimination against Latex users, there should be ways to obfuscate it's use. Are there?

Latex / arXiv / discrimination
I guess I don't see the "discrimination" here, or the hesitancy to upload a source file. The LaTeX input file contains the same content as, say, a PDF, excepting images. Why would you be willing to provide one but not the other?
Oh, and one way around arXiv's rules is not to upload papers to the arXiv. I haven't ever used it, and I don't see a reason to do so. If you want the preprint to be available, check with your funding agency---some of them have similar features (such as the US Department of Energy's OSTI).
