Post by user49915 »

Biblatex has langamerican and langenglish to specify that a cited piece of literature has been written in American English and an English of an unspecified kind, respectively. I think that this is done by saying language={langamerican} or language={langenglish}. Let assume that you wish to specify that the cited work has been written in UK English (and keep the other parts of the bibliographic item in the language of the book into which the bibliography is placed, say, German). How would you do that? langbritish and langukenglish are missing. Of course, you could have a dummy field, say, OPTwrittenInLang={british}, but this is not a standard one, and it would have no effect on typesetting the title in the British English language. Of course, you could always typeset the title as title={\foreignlanguage{british}{My honourable title}}, indexsorttitle={My honourable title}, but this seems to be a kludge.

I don't get the question right now.
Can you give a minimal working example that demonstrates what you want or what does not work as expected?
The smart way: Calm down and take a deep breath, read posts and provided links attentively, try to understand and ask if necessary.

The question is less about how to typeset this and that directly (say, typeset a biblio item all in German except the title, which should be typeset in British English). In fact, you would be able to answer the question directly if I post an MWE. The question is more about the semantics of language={lang<whatever>} in a .bib file for biblatex. So, I cannot answer

since I don't quite understand what to expect. I guess, being surprised to see that there is langamerican but no langbritish and no langukenglish, I am simply confused.
