Hi,
I am about sending my paper to a journal. The journal format is tow column but the abstract is a single column. I am using a springer template. When I try to set the layout as \documentclass[twocolumn]{svjour3} but the abstract also is setting as twocolumn I need the abstract format to be separated to the rest of the paper.
For example, it should be like this:
Abstract
ababababababababab
ababababababababab
ababababababababab
Introduction
abababab babababab
babaabab babababab
abababab babababab
any help please?

Setting abstract as single column and introduction as two column
If you are sending your paper to a Springer journal that uses svjour3, don't care about such things but use the class as it (with the options documented for the particular journal), read the author manual and obey the author instructions. Usually Springer will do the detail work and remove all modifications. So to deviate from the author instructions and modify the usual result of the class would increase the work amount needed to be done by Springer. I've worked as typesetter for Springer and can tell you: They wouldn't like it.
If you are sending your paper to another publisher don't use a Springer class. Use either the class provided by your publisher or use the generic article class.

Sorry, but I can no longer participate here as the administrator is trampling on my wishes on one of his other platforms.

Setting abstract as single column and introduction as two column
Actually, I reviewed the papers published in the journal all of them were formatted as I mentioned. this is why I thought that I should commit the paper style. So as you mentioned I will use the class option and let springer do the details. Thank you very much, dear.Ijon Tichy wrote:If you are sending your paper to a Springer journal that uses svjour3, don't care about such things but use the class as it (with the options documented for the particular journal), read the author manual and obey the author instructions. Hi, ajamel88.
Did you send the paper with the abstract in two columns? I saw some papers published in the springer’s journals and it was placed in one column, but I can’t do the same.
Thank you.

Setting abstract as single column and introduction as two column
Springer will do the typesetting, they just want the content from you.
The smart way: Calm down and take a deep breath, read posts and provided links attentively, try to understand and ask if necessary.
