a multiline equation next to a frame box

Post by itdevx »

Hi all,
I’m a rather newcomer to LaTeX. I want to write a report consisting of several multiline equations each having a text description. I want to have each equation on the left side of the paper and its description frame boxed right to it. I thought tabular environment could be an option, but it seems that equation array environment can’t be used in the tabular environment (my TeXnicCenter fires an error). So what can I do? I also want to have control over the width of the equation and its description. Is the multicol package a solution?

Post a minimal working example showing a pair of those equations and what you have tried. Then explain a bit more how you want them be formatted. Things change depending on the aligment you want between equation and description, if the formulas should be numbered or not, the size of the formulas...
