How should that look like? What staff?

Staff in music world is these five lines where you put music notes.

I want to do some music examples for my kids and to name a note (ie note name 'c' under this note, simillarly to lyrics). I'm now using lyrics to do it. I'm just wondering is there any better/simpler way of doing so.
