Hi everybody,
I have gif files of size 4800 x 3600 pixels. I want to put them in a document where they are 16cm wide and the document is to be printed on a printer with 300 dpi resolution. My question is to which size (in pixels) should I reduce this file in order to reduce its size as much as possible while keeping the necessary resolution??

Re: Reducing Size of GIF files for putting in LATEX document.
Ok, I figured out myself.
Original size: 4800 x 3600 pixcels
Target size: 16cm x 12cm for printing on 300dpi.
Target size in inches: 6.3'' x 4.7''
Reduced file size without losing quality should be: (6.3 x 300) x (4.7 x 300) pixels = 1890 x 1410 pixels
So it reduces size by factor of about 6.5
