So, my problem is: instant preview doesn't work in most documents, even though it is always set "on" in the preferences. Curiously, when I open the User's Guide that comes with LyX, instant preview seems to work fine for that document. But when I create my own documents (that compile correctly and produce a correct pdf output) instant preview doesn't work anymore.
You can see here how the correct rendering looks (first screenshot in the image attached) in the User's Guide, while in the second screenshot you can see how the formulas would be displyed in any document created by myself.
(The background color is not the default one, just because I changed it)
(I created the second screenshot by keeping the cursor inside the formula box; but it represents how formulas look in all my documents -different from the user's guide- no matter if I move the cursor out of the formula box and/or I wait any amount of time)
