LyX ⇒ Reconfigure dialogue
Reconfigure dialogue
after updating LyX to 2.2.2, also conveniently updating MiKTeX and thus getting tons of error messages and problems with missing document classes and so on, finally all seems to be working fine again (note that I have nearly none experience with this). I had to run the reconfiguration of LyX several times in order to incorporate the new MiKTeX packages. While doing so, several dialogues appeared that asked me to install missing packages that would be required by LyX (admin approval necessary). After the tenth dialogue or so, I checked the box "don't ask me again" or "don't show this dialogue again". Still, the admin approval was necessary for every single package. I might have clicked no some times as I was wondering whether this was still working properly.
Now, as I said, LyX works fine again. However, I'd like to withdraw my decision that this checkbox be never shown again. I find it a bit weird that the whole reconfiguration process runs without a proper GUI that shows what happens and these dialogues are at least something that shows what packages have to be installed. Is there a way to re-enable the dialogue?
Thank you!

But really, this update process was a mess. Is updating the packages of MiKTeX actually necessary or advisable for LyX users? Would a fresh installation of the LyX bundle would be an easier option?
