Inserting symbols via overleaf

Post by elizabethmoran2 »

I am attempting to prepare a manuscript in overleaf, which was recommended by the journal (PNAS). I'm trying to insert an "alpha" symbol, and cannot seem to do this in the application.

I have tried:
1. Using the \text command
2. Downloading the textcomp package
3. Using the \usepackage command
4. Downloading the babel package
5. Copying and pasting directly from Word

Any ideas as to how else I might do this using the browser version of Overleaf? Thanks in advance!

try $\alpha$ if in text mode or \ensuremath{\alpha} if you're unsure about the mode, LaTeX is currently in in your document. If that doesn't help, please post a Infominimal working example.
