Hi,
I am very low tech and have been using Lyx for Mac for years now. I have a MacBook Air (running OS X Mavericks) and a brand new iMac (running OS X El Capitan).
I recently upgraded to 2.2.1 on my MacBook Air and everything runs fine as before. However, after installing 2.2.1 (and MacTex) on my iMac for the first time, I cannot compile PDF output files (or view PDF/EPS/... as inserted graphs in Lyx) on the iMac.
Could you please help?

Do you get any error message? What exactly happens? Can you post a log file?
Does LyX produce a PDF with a simple file without images? I read about image inclusion problems and solutions here: https://wiki.lyx.org/LyX/FiguresInLyX

thanks for your message. There are two problems
1) I am unable to even produce an output file (PDF or other);
2) no inserted images display in Lyx.
I cannot stress enough how low tech I am. The issues you found did they only happen with 2.2.1? I had absolutely no issues before the update.
I did look at the page you sent and tried the fix but to no avail
Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

But what about a simple file without images? Does that produces PDF output?
I asked that to know if there's a compiling issue or an issue just with embedded images (conversion).

The functionality or producing an output is somehow turned off so I literally cannot produce any file.
This is what makes me think there are two separate issues.
Could it be that something went wrong with the installation? I installed the full version of MacTex but still no improvement.
Edit: It turns out that I can produce output files with other files. I tried it with the User Guide and that worked. Could the issue come from the fact that the file was created under an earlier version?
