Produced using Miktek 2.7 and Winedt. Additional packages came from this file, http://www.aeaweb.org/latex_templates.zip.
ATTACHED: log file (by localghost), my non-working DVI file (attached as txt as dvi is not allowed) and a PDF file generated from SWP

MikTex AER packages not working correctly - GET PAID!
The problem lies in the mathtime package. It uses mathtime fonts, which you have to buy. The AER-article example compiled just fine on my machine after I commented out this package. I hope this helps.
