Hi all, I just wanted to let you know that I have written a couple of software tools which significantly speed up the process of creating indexes for large multi-file LaTex projects. I write non-fiction books for a living and developed this for my own projects, but I have released it to the public under the GPL. This is an alpha release so I am very interested in feedback and/or bug reports.

indexmeister reads in a LaTex file (or several other formats, if you have Pandoc installed) and uses heuristics to make a list of important terms that you might want to index.

imbrowse lets you rapidly browse through a multi-file LaTex file and add the /index{} tags with many fewer keystrokes than if you did it by hand with a text editor.

Currently, I have only tested the programs on my own Linux boxes but the should work in the console on any Unix-like system.
