Hey,
my lyx software does really weird things.
If I open a new document, write hello and view the PDF, it shows a PDF with "hello". But if I copy that "Hello" from the PDF to some other software now, I get "❍❡❧❧♦". Do you have any idea what the reason for that could be?
I'm using Ubuntu 14.04 and it's standard PDF viewer. Since I don't have that problem when I open other PDF's I assume it is a problem with/in lyx.

You could try to use a different font. And you could use a different PDF reader to compare. Finally, to verify, you could post a
minimal working example, which demonstrates the issue, together with the PDF file as attachment, so we could verify this issue.
