I have the following code:

But borders show up like the attachment. Not over and left. Not at the exact edge of the image.

What am I doing wrong?

Welcome to the forum!

I think your image has already some white margin. Or there are settings in your code which you did not show us yet. Perhaps post a minimal working example.

Try this and have a look - no whitespace below or above the demo image and no whitespace at the left of the right - I inserted text to distinguish the frame from the image.

Thanks for the answer,

the problem though is not only the whitespace but that the frame's line don't attach at the edge of the image.

With your code the problem still exists. See the attached image.

Hm, you could post the image itself as attachment (instead of a screenshot of the output), if you like. So I could test with that image directly.

Can you copy that picture in an extra folder, rename it and fit stefans example to the new filename. Also remove the demo option.

What example do you get? Can you show us the log-file? Your image with Stefans code gives the expected output on my machine.

• With \frame: no whitespace, the line is thin, so you possibly need to zoom in to actually see it at all edges:

• With \fbox: in that case you still need your \fboxsep setting and if you like, \fboxrule too:

Check the print on paper if you deliver paper. If you deliver an electronic version, such as the PDF file, you could be safe in various zoom levels if you simple make the box line thicker, such as \setlength{\fboxrule}{2pt}together with \fbox.
