BibTeX, biblatex and biber ⇒ bibkey naming coincidence

to save other BiBTeX users time: I had a problem running BiBTeX followed by XeLaTeX, which resulted in mysterious error messages from LaTeX. I finally worked out it was caused by inadvertently using the same character combination (name) for a bibkey (GettyHexameters) as the file I was processing (GettyHexameters.tex). Changing the key for the work referenced (to Getty:Hexameters) relieved XeLaTeX of its puzzlement.
