Texmaker and TeXstudio ⇒ [Texmaker/Texstudio] Can't make "TCCV" Template work

Hello there,

I'm very new to Latex and I've ruefully been trying to make the following template work on my computer with Texstudio on Ubuntu 14.04.

However when I open the *.tex file and try to compile with F1 I get a massive output of errors (see below).

I already downloaded the following files and put them in the respective folder: marvosym.sty, easytoolbox.sty, needspace.sty

Any help is much appreciated!

Hi, you are linking two very different things, and as far as i can tell, you are using the second one by Nicola Fontana using KOMA-script. This seems to be a good idea, but i haven't revied the class file and the examples yet. I'll have a look at it this evening.

You should try to compile them unmodified.
You are (or rather latex) missing some packages, i guess you have a basic MikTeX install. There is an on-the-fly option you can set in the MikTeX preferences, making it install missing package automatically. An alternative would be to use the mikTeX package manager and just install all available packages. This is basically what TeXLive is doing all the time. Disk spcae is cheap these days.

First of all thank you for your quick response! I must say that I'm really new to Latex since this is more or less my first approach to Latex at all. Therefore I must admit that I have a hard time to understand your answer.

However, you mentioned that you'll have a closer look at it later so I'll just wait for that and hopefully I'll get it then! Thanks anyway!

I should take closer looks to user problem descriptions.
You are running ubuntu, and i guess you installed texlive-base. There are many more meta-packages, also one for fonts.
The template file nicola.en loads class tccv (found in your second link). This class loads font bookman, included in texlive-fonts-recommended.
You can update or install packages using apt-get or the TexLive package manager (i guess only available using a vanilla install from TUG).

The other packages should be included in texlive-latex-recommended.
Downloading a package manually isn't a good idea, at least in my opinion.

Now to the warning: The author uses font switches witch are obsolete for over twenty years. They were just built in for compatibility. You can ignore those warnings. I am going to wright a mail to the author asking to change the template file.

PS: Sorry for the late reply.

EDIT: You should use the F6 button to compile with pdflatex. Running lualatex is not needed right now.
