Hi,
generally, I think lyx is a great tool, very help- and useful. But its table editor - not so. I'm sure the table editor is fantastic if you know how to work it. But the whole point about lyx is that it's fantastic even if you're not an expert.
Specifically: how to make a table fit the width of the page excluding the margins? Not so straightforward. It's possible to count the number of centimeters or whatever? Say that's 20cm. How wide to make five columns? Not 4cm, apparently.
So: is there a solution? Does the table editor just suck? Am I being unreasonably dumb?
Help!
Thanks,
fahrrad

table width in lyx
Hello, I have roughly the same issue, but I was unable to find a solution. I need a table to take exactly the width of the page, without the margins. Have you found a solution? I'll take anything as I am a newbie with LaTeX commands.

table width in lyx
If you right click in a table, and select settings, than in the first tab, there are settings for the entire table (somewhere at the bottom of the dialog). Do you get what you want if you type a percentage (100, probably) of the column width (or text width)? See attachments (but in Dutch, sorry for that).
To be honest, I never tried this option, I always give the enitre width in cm myself. I'm not a specialist, far from... I do remember that getting all the column widhts and row heigths exactly as you want, isn't obvious. And it took me some "dinging into LaTeX". But it was a long time ago that I did these kind of things.
