Reviewers of my papers want to use MS word and I cannot find a way to successfully export to word.
I can export to ODT. But Word 2007 and Word 2010 both say the file is corrupt.
I have tried saving out the pdf to word using the top version of adobe that supports all that stuff but I end up with loads of review comment on images and formatting when that was fine in the pdf.
Any help or advice would be appreciate in resolving this problem.

Exporting to Word
When I collaborate with people who want to use Word after I've already written everything in LaTeX, I give them several options:
(1) Tell them to figure out how to edit a plain text file (you'd be surprised how many people don't know what a text editor is...), and just ignore anything starting with a backslash.
(2) Tell them to make comments in the PDF (this works for minor changes, not so well for major ones)
(3) Tell them to make comments on paper (same problems as previous method)
(4) Tell them to import the text (from the PDF, or from the source, either one) into MS-Word, make their edits, and send the result back to me. This one has the downside of making more work for ME.
(5) Tell them to re-type the entire paper in Word, with formatting, make their edits, and then send it back to me that way. If someone ever complained that this was unreasonable, I would probably just shoot back that reformatting it using a different piece of software is precisely what they were asking me to do for them. Another comeback I like to use: "If you don't know how to use your word processor efficiently, why should I be required to use it?" (In my experience, people usually use MS-Word in a very rudimentary way---e.g., Type text; make boldface; increase size---rather than using styles/headings/automatic numbers/etc.)
The last time this happened, I suggested (1), and they chose (3). The time before, I suggested (1) and they chose (2). No one has ever pushed me far enough to suggest (5), though (4) was suggested once.
If you must export to Word, and can go through ODT, does it work to open the ODT document in OpenOffice/LibreOffice and then save as a DOC or DOCX from there?

Regarding your list of 'tells'. I think it very much depends on who you are, who your reviewers are, and your individual circumstances.

Exports to Word and OpenDocument are easier since LyX 2.2. See the tutorial on how to export to OpenDocument and Office Open XML on LyX's wiki.
