writing a thesis using latex

Post by ringdealer »

Greetings, I am an Electric Engineering student and I will graduate this year. I am writing my thesis in latex, problem is that the faculty demands a specific format. I’d like to know how to enumerate equations after its section or subsection’s number using \documentclass{article}, and how to insert another subsection after \subsubsection command.
Also I want to present my thesis using beamer class but I just can’t find the packages I need. Could someone, please, tell me where can I find them and how to install them? Thank you.

writing a thesis using latex

Hi,

welcome to the forum!

If you use amsmath, you can number your equations per sections by this setting in the preamble:

Code: Select all

\numberwithin{equation}{section}
Similar for subsections, that case use instead:

Code: Select all

\numberwithin{equation}{subsection}
Regarding the beamer class: which LaTeX are you using? MiKTeX, TeX Live, or MacTeX, or a TeX from Linux OS repositories? All have package managers, which you can use to install the beamer package.
