Issue installing Lyx

Post by JJK »

Hi all,

I have been a user of Lyx on a previous machine for some years now. I haven't got a great knowledge of Latex but find the software very useful for formatting papers in my studies.

Recently, I tried installing Lyx on a new laptop (Windows 7) using the LyX-2.0.6-Bundle-2.exe available from the Lyx site. However, after installing the software Lyx will not generate a preview, or complete any export to .pdf. Instead, the program laggs for a while before displaying the error:
'Lyx: Stop command? The command pdflatex "newfile1.tex" has not yet completed. Do you want to stop it? >Stop it >Let it run. - File does not exist.'

I have tried changing the settings to various File Formats eg. PDF (pdflatex), reinstalling, and installing the same bundle software onto another windows 7 machine, but encounter the same error.

I have Adobe Acrobat XI Pro installed on both machines- could that be an issue?

New to the forum, and relatively noob to latex, please forgive me if its staring me in the face, thanks for your time.
