Thank you for the welcome.
I have now been using LaTex for the past three months, spending most of the time reading the documentation.
Before I began to use LaTex my documents, papers and letters have been prepared using WordPerfect which I liked because of the ability to correct the formatting codes. Before WordPerfect v.1.0 I used WordStar on an Epson prtable CP/M machine.
I am a retired anaesthetist preparing a book about a clock that John Harrison (of Longitude fame) wished to make for the Royal Greenwich Observatory in 1775. This involves preparing a large number of mathematical expressions and diagrams. the formulae are being prepared using MathType as I have used it extensively with WordPerfect.
Best wishes,
Stuart Harrison

Re: Hello
Nice to have some kind of computer veteran here. I recently saw a TV documentation about the marine chronometer by John Harrison. With the time you will see that typesetting mathematical expressions with LaTeX is not really a big problem.
