texmaker recompiling error for generating PDF file

Post by GaoXJ »

hi,
I am a new comer to use texmaker. When I compile the .tex file first time, there is no problem. However, there are some error messages while I modify the some content in .tex file, such as add a word or sentence in the text. The error message are shown as follows:
I can’t write on the file ‘Test.pdf. ’ please type another file name for output!
==> Fatal error occurred, no output file produced.

When I remove the ‘Test.pdf’, I can compile correctly. Then, I see a lot topic in this forum and solution. I have tried to use SumatraPDF instead of Adobe reader in configuration texmaker->texmaker order->external viewer . However, it doesn’t work.
I am using texmaker 4.0.4 in Win8 operation system. Are there any methods to solve this problem?
Cheers for any help

Re: texmaker compiling error for generating PDF file

The topic title is wrong since there actually is no compiling error (will be renamed later). The Ad0be Reader (AR) simple locks the PDF output. Are there any good reasons against the internal PDF viewer of TeXmaker? And how is this problem related to »Text Formatting«?

Thank you for paying attention to my topic.
Actually, I have modified the path of the external viewer and use SumatraPDF to instead of Adobe reader viewer, even I use the Build-in viewer to compile, the error still appear. Meanwhile, I close the pdf before compiling.
Expect your kind help.

As long as the AR is open with the PDF, it will be locked. Sumatra doesn't do that. It updates the display as soon as it detects changes in the file. Something blocks the file. A concrete remote diagnose is quite difficult.

Thank you!
I think you are right. I want to know is there any way to avoid this PDF locked and detect whether it is locked? I have choose Sumatra as the default open mode for PDF, however,it doesn't work.
The configuration of texmaker in option is shown in the figure attached. I want to know whether there are something wrong with it.
Best wishes!

Thank you for the sugestion from localghost.
Now the problem is solved. I have uninstall the portable version of texmaker, and redownload a texmakerwin32_install.exe and and install it. The reconfiguration modified is shown the figure1-tex commands. Here, I don't modify the configuration of figure2-tex quick build. Now, it works perfectly well.
Hope, this answer will be helpful to some new comers to texmaker.
Enjoy!
