I am having a couple of problems with the formatting of my PhD thesis, which is due for submission soon - any comments/help would be appreciated. I have tried all of the suggestions that I can find on the internet, but I am a newbie and so may have missed the obvious. As a newbie, please be gentle with me

Document class: Book (KOMA Script)
Master document contains front page, instructions to create Contents, List of tables, figs etc and contents.
Chpaters within document are written in seperate documents and then brought into the master document by use of branches.
Problems I have...
1) Page numbers. Uni regs require that the thesis follows the order of
Front page
Abstract
Contents
List of tables, Figs, etc
Chapter 1
And that the first numbered page is the first Contents page. Contens and List of... pages are to use roman numerals and Chapter 1 onwards uses arabic numbers.
I cannot make this happen. Lyx insists on numbering the Abstract page (arabic) and then the Contents pages (roman) before returning to arabic numbering.
2) Blank pages at the end of a chapter - Despite document settings being the same in all respects (as far as I can see), 2 chatpers retain a blank page after the conclusions. In attached minimum working model, it's pages 7 and 15.
I have not been able to upload sufficient files to allow a minimum working model, but have attached a pdf output showing the problems. I am happy to forward the lyx files to anyone who wants to have a look at them.
P.S. I realise the formatting on page 8 is shot - this figure fits properly in the full document.
