Exported PDF not searchable

Post by BrentMcKain »

I recently upgraded my desktop to Ubuntu 12.10 and did a clean install of Ubuntu 13.04 on my laptop. Since then, any PDF I export with LyX is unsearchable (on both operating systems). I have no problem searching a PDF exported using TeXmaker, and I had no problem searching any PDF before I upgraded my OS. Thoughts?

Update:
I've tried using other PDF readers (in 13.04) with mixed results. The Document Viewer (Ubuntu default PDF reader) and Okular have the same issue. I can search them, but only for words/letters that show up in a math environment. I still cannot search for words found in standard text environments.

However, I was able to install Linux versions of Adobe Reader and Foxit Reader and while their interfaces are not the best on Ubuntu, I am able to search anywhere in the PDF using either application.
