How can I start a bibliography?

Hi Guys can someone tell me how can I start a database for a bibliography? I am studying LaTex but I do not have a preamble...I need to enter more than 200 books and put them in alphabtetical order...thanks :?:

Have a look at Bibliographies with BibTeX. Andrew Roberts explains it pretty well in this short guide.

An alternative, the new star for bibliographies with LaTeX is biblatex, it's highly customizable but some stuff to read.

Hi,

I am using JabRef and it works great for me: http://jabref.sourceforge.net
As far as I know it will not automatise creating the 200+ book entries though ...
