Hey,
I've just started using lyx (and with this, latex) a few days ago. Until now I could solve all my problems with reading the documentation or googling.
But now I have a problem I couldn't solve so far, I hope you can help me out.
It's about the position of a figure. If I understood correctly, the only way in Lyx to insert a figure (i.e. a graphic that counts towards the figure table) is with using
Insert -> Floating Object -> Figure
Now my problem is that in the exported PDF, the figure is not being displayed at the position where I inserted it, but rather on top of the page.
I've tried to force it to the position where it's actually defined within the document, but whenever I try to insert custom latex code where people say it will fix the problem, I get error messages when trying to export it.
So in short: How can I insert a figure so that it displays it at the actual spot I defined it within the document, and not pushes it at the top of the page?
Thanks very much

Re: Figure position
Oh my, I just found the answer while trying to figure out something else
For the record:
Under "Document" -> "Settings/Preferences" -> "Floating Object Placement" you can force it to insert it at the exact position.
(The menus may be titled differently, I have the German version so I can only guess what it says in the English version)
